Dear seafarers, members of the Saemans Association of the Republic of Serbia, and interested public.
We are delighted to inform you about the successful outcome of our requests submitted to the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Finance during the previous protest.
As a result of the acceptance of our demands, by the decision of the Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure and with the consent of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, an interdepartmental working group has been formed to address the tax treatment of seafarers in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the issues related to the status, rights, and obligations of seafarers, based on the proposal submitted by the Seamans Association of the Republic of Serbia.
This working group will consist of experts from:
- Ministry of Finance;
- Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure;
- Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans, and Social Affairs;
- Ministry of Health;
- Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund;
- Republic Health Insurance Fund;
- Seamans Association of the Republic of Serbia.
Together, we will work towards creating a fair tax calculation system for seafarers in the Republic of Serbia.
This news is an indicator of the strength and legitimacy of the Seamans Association of the Republic of Serbia, as well as the clear stance of Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure regarding the importance of the maritime industry and our members.
We have all contributed to this success, and we will keep you informed about the progress of the interdepartmental working group and all significant events.
