On behalf of the of the Seaman's Association of Republic of Serbia, the Executive Board, and the working group, we wish to express our deepest gratitude to all seafarers and their families, to all mothers, grandmothers, pregnant womens, young childrens, as well as to old sea wolves who attended the protest held in Belgrade on July 24, 2023.
Your support and participation in this protest are of great significance to us and the entire seafaring community in Serbia. Your presence and voices are crucial in the fight for better working conditions and resolving the status of seafarers in our country.
May your example serve as inspiration for others to get involved, and together, let us work towards achieving our common goals. Thank you for being part of this action and for fighting for your rights and the rights of all seafarers in Serbia.
The unity and solidarity within our seafaring community are what make us strong and ready to fight for our rights and status.

Below, you can find the demands that, in addition to the Strategy for the Development of Water Transport, are part of our initiative to define the status of seafarers and other documents submitted to the Ministry of Finance and the Government of the Republic of Serbia:
For the Ministry of Finance and the Government of the Republic of Serbia,
Demands related to the Initiative for resolving the status of seafarers and improving the rights and obligations of seafarers in the Republic of Serbia:
1. Priority demand:
Repeal of temporary tax resolutions and abolition of taxes for the year 2017 for all seafarers in the Republic of Serbia. Like in other years, taxes and contributions should be abolished until the seafarers' status is defined.
2. Executive action:
Full implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Water Transport for the period 2015-2025, which has been accepted and approved by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, including the full implementation of the initiative for defining the status of seafarers proposed by the Seaman's Association of the Republic of Serbia.
3. Organization:
Establishment of a working group that will be involved in the process of improving the rights and obligations of seafarers in the Republic of Serbia. This working group should include representatives from:
- Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia
- Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia
- Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans, and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia
- Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia
- Seaman's Association of the Republic of Serbia, representing the profession.
4. Collaborative work:
Serious work and involvement of all ministries listed in the initiative are necessary. Only through cooperation and coordinated activities of all relevant institutions, we can ensure that the amendments and additions to the law are done properly, and seafarers receive all their rights and obligations arising from their professional status.
